INJURED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE OR WORKPLACE ACCIDENT?

There is a lot to juggle in the first few weeks following a motor vehicle or workplace accident. It can all become quite overwhelming, especially when you are still dealing with the pain of the accident. These next few lines summarize what you’ll need for your first appointment, and offer some general information to help guide you through the process.

FOR YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT WE NEED A FEW PIECES OF INFORMATION:

  1. Your ICBC Claim Number
  2. Personal Health Number (Care Card Number)
  3. Date of Injury
  4. The name and contact information of the claim adjuster or ICBC Team that is overseeing your claim.

Did you know?

Now, as soon as you are in a motor vehicle accident, you are instantly approved for 25 physiotherapy treatments. You have 12 weeks from the date of the accident to seek treatment. If you do not seek treatment within this timeline, you will most likely need to submit a new doctor’s referral to ICBC in order for us to bill them.

If you are in a motor vehicle accident while at work, this claim defaults to WSBC, not ICBC. Even though ICBC will provide you with a claim number. You need to seek treatment under a WSBC claim. This rule is a bit less known, but we can help guide you through the process.

HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN A WORKPLACE INJURY?

  1. Tell your employer about the injury as soon as you get a chance.
  2. Depending on the nature and severity of the injury go to either a doctor’s office or to the hospital and inform your physician that this is a work related injury.
  3. Phone Work Safe BC to report your injury at 1-888-967-537.

For your first appointment at Polycan Health Center we need:

  1. WSBC Claim Number
  2. Personal Health Number (Care Card Number)
  3. Date of Injury
  4. The name and contact information of the claim adjuster or ICBC Team that is overseeing your claim.
  5. The name and contact information of your claim adjuster
  6. The name and contact information of your employer

Did you know?

If you seek physiotherapy treatment within 60 days of the accident and/or surgery, whether the claim is approved or pending, WSBC pays for your Initial Assessment with us.

If you seek physiotherapy treatment outside of this 60 day window, we will need to contact your case manager to obtain claim approval.

A standard treatment block is 6 weeks, while a post-surgical treatment block is 8 weeks. We hope to see WSBC patients 2-3 times per week throughout these treatment blocks.
