The Basic Medical Lab Learning Program

For Grade 9 to Grade12 students who are preparing to apply for programs in Biomedical, Health Science, Nursing, Dentistry, and Medicine:

Title: Introduction to Medical Laboratory Science
Duration: 50 hours (part-time)
Cost: $2,500 CAD

Course Description
This course is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of medical laboratory science. The course will cover basic laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and common laboratory procedures. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting through practical activities and experiments.

The course will be delivered onsite through PolyCan Health Centre which provides access to course materials, lecture videos, practical activities, and assessments. PolyCan Health Centre will also facilitate communication between the instructor and students, as well as among students.

Prerequisites
No prior knowledge of medical laboratory science is required. However, students should have a basic understanding of high school-level Biology and Chemistry.

Assessment
The assessment will be based on the following criteria:

Completion of practical activities and experiments
Participation in online discussions
Quizzes and exams
Laboratory report writing

Certificate of Completion
Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
